About Me
During July 2020, I was awarded Senior Accreditation with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. For Senior Accreditation I demonstrated how I'd developed my knowledge, experience and ethical practice in specialist areas since my initial Accreditation, and this was demonstrated by my passion for: Jungian Psychology, Personality Adaptation (Disorder) and Spirituality within the therapeutic space. And as an essential part of my practice, I continue to pursue: continual personal development (CPD and Clinical Supervision is a mandatory requirement for all BACP members) by attending twice monthly Clinical Supervision with a Jungian Analytical Psychotherapist. CPD and Supervision is an essential part of all good ethical practice, I’m also a member of the BACP Spirituality Division, so I welcome any questions regarding this that you might have.
For over 18 years, I have worked with people either supportively, or therapeutically in various roles. Initially I was a volunteer with the Leicester Samaritans, delivering training and mentoring for volunteers for over 5 years, and now I'm a BACP, Registered, Senior Accredited Counsellor & Psychotherapist with over 17 years experience counselling adults and 13 years experience counselling young adults (18+) I use both short term counselling and open ended Psychodynamic & Psychotherapeutic interventions with clients from my private practice located at Knighton Fields Road East LE2, located 1.2 miles from the University of Leicester, 0.7 miles from Clarendon Park, and 1.8 miles from the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
I am Disability Awareness and Safeguarding for Children & Adults trained, working with many people from diverse and underrepresented client groups from my practice. I utilise: Psychodynamic, Jungian, CBT, Solution Focused, Person Centred and Spirituality within my work, acknowledging that everyone is very unique and special in their own way.
I have developed many skills throughout my practice including; conducting my own clinical assessments and evaluating suicidal risk, formulating and discussing treatment plans, setting and maintaining boundaries, whilst agreeing outcome measures with my clients. I fully document client sessions, and often provide detailed (at the request of my clients, GDPR compliant: 00045749944) psychological reports for GP’s, Mental Health practitioners and Human Resource professionals to support those who require evidence for sick absence, whilst maintaining client confidentiality at all times. Managing wellbeing and supporting people back into ‘day to day’ life/work/education is essential to help people fulfil potential, including; self care, exercise, yoga, meditation, sleep management, diet and sexual health, as part of a ‘holistic’ wellbeing treatment can be extremely enlightening and empowering.
And lastly, before training as a Psychotherapist I was employed within the Aerospace and Formula 1 Engineering sectors, I’m a Post Graduate of the: Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) and hold a Certificate in Leadership from the: Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM). I share this because I have a wealth of experience of working with colleagues, managers and clients within competitive environments, and understand the diverse and stressful dynamics that pertain to being employed within challenging, target driven organisations.
